War in Ukraine : About sixty Togolese rescued

The High Council of Togolese Abroad (HCTE) announced on Wednesday that it had identified and taken care of several Togolese citizens residing in Ukraine, a country at war since February 24, 2022.

According to the government, about sixty Togolese were identified and rescued by the Crisis Management Unit set up for this purpose.

Most are currently in several cities in Germany, France, Italy, Luxembourg and Poland, says the High Council.

While other nationalities have been able to benefit from the initiatives put in place by Togo, a dozen Togolese do not wish to leave the country of Zelinsky for the moment, “for several reasons”. “There remains, despite everything, an indefinite number with which no contact has yet been established”, specifies the entity.

For the time being, the embassies of Togo in Germany and France, as well as the services of the ministry remain mobilized to help Togolese nationals still in the country invaded by Russian troops for more than a month.
