A new terrorist attack has reportedly hit Togo at the beginning of last weekend, killing around thirty people in the north of the country, reported the colleagues from Jeune Afrique.
Although the Togolese government has not communicated any attack this month, the newspaper believes that the power of Lomé is struggling to stem the jihadist threat and is choosing the strategy of discretion.
According to the same source, the attack occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday February 10, 2023.
“The inhabitants of Tola and Gningou, two villages in the Kpendjal prefecture in northern Togo, are attacked by armed jihadist groups. Kidnapped and then had their throats slit, the 31 victims were found dead at daybreak,” the magazine said, adding that a dozen terrorists were killed during a search by the Togolese Armed Forces (FAT) the next morning not far from the scene of the crime.
Indeed, this area of the Savanes region, landlocked on the border of Burkina Faso and Ghana more than 600 kilometers from Lomé, has been targeted by terrorists for several months.
Another attack, which occurs despite the security response of the Togolese authorities.
