Togo has officially joined the Conference of Speakers and Presidents of African Legislative Assemblies (COSPAL), a move aimed at boosting its parliamentary diplomacy.
The announcement came following COSPAL’s second General Assembly held in Accra, where Togo’s membership was formalized.
Representing Togo’s National Assembly, Sixth Vice-President Myriam Dossou-d’Almeida signed the membership agreement on behalf of Assembly President Kodjo Adedze, marking Togo’s entry into the organization. This new role grants Togo access to COSPAL’s discussions and initiatives aimed at addressing key issues across the continent.
Founded in 2020, COSPAL serves as a collaborative platform for African legislative leaders, focusing on enhancing cooperation, developing joint strategies, and addressing shared challenges. The organization is currently led by Ghana, which holds the presidency.
