Togo-Turkey relationship: What was said between Faure and Erdoğan

The President of the Republic of Togo, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé had a telephone exchange on Wednesday with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The two leaders discussed about the relations between Lomé and Ankara which have considerably strengthened and diversified in recent months, and materialized by official visits and the signing of several agreements.

Other agreements should soon be sealed, especially in the defense, security and civil protection sectors. The process of opening the Togolese embassy in Turkey is almost complete.

Faure Gnassingbé also reiterated Togo’s solidarity with Turkey, which has been ravaged for several weeks by fires.
