The Togolese contingent of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) was the target of a new attack on Monday.
This incident occurred about thirty kilometers from Sévaré. it was a complex attack faced by the Togolese contingent. Fortunately, there was “No damage or casualties”.
The armored vehicle of the Togolese soldiers hit an IED on the Sévaré-Konna axis.
Then, the Togolese soldiers were ambushed by the suspected terrorist brigade. The response from the contingent was vigorous and one of the assailants was neutralised.
“A MINUSMA convoy targeted on its way by an IED attack early this morning about thirty km from Sévaré. No damage or casualties. The peacekeepers, within the framework of the Mission’s Mandate and their rules of engagement, returned fire, neutralizing one of the assailants”, MINUSMA communicated afterwards.
Togo, 2nd contributor of ECOWAS countries in terms of troops within MINUSMA, has recorded several losses of soldiers in recent years as part of this mission.
