The Population of Togo exceeds 8 million in 2022

In Togo, the final results of the fifth General Population and Housing Census were made public this Tuesday, April 04, 2023. The update indicates that the West African country currently has a population of over 8 million.

This census, which should provide the country with comprehensive, reliable and detailed data on the population, took place from October 23 to November 16, 2022.

According to figures published on Tuesday, Togo, which had 6,191,155 inhabitants in 2010, rose to 8,095,498 in 2022. It should also be noted that the country had less than 1.5 million inhabitants in 1960, the year of its independence.

In detail, the 2022 census suggests that in the Savanes region the population is 1,143,520, in Kara 985,512, Centrale 795,529 and Plateaux 1,635,946. In the Maritime region without Grand Lomé, it is of 1,346,615 while Greater Lomé, the capital is 2,188,376.

The male population is 3,944,510 (48.7%), the female population is 4,150,988 (51.3%). The number of Togolese living in urban areas is 3,473,792. Those living in rural areas is 4,621,706.

  1. Toujours à critiquer. Vas ici Togo – Vue d’ensemble (banquemondiale.org) et tu verras que le Togo avance quand même. Au lieu d’avoir la politique à la bouche matin midi soir, si vous bossez pour créer de la richesse, FAURE ne viendra pas vous empêcher. Les chinois sont dans une dictature mais, ça ne les empêche pas de bosser comme des fous depuis des années.
