A togolese UN soldier found dead in his room

In Togo, the national Gendarmerie is mourning the death of one of its men on a mission in the Central African Republic, found dead in his room on Monday.

According to reports the lifeless body of Captain Lare Bentien, was found on January 11, in his room in Bangui where he was serving as UN peacekeeper.

The captain allegedly killed himself with his own service weapon.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the Directorate of the National Gendarmerie has expressed its grief and its support for the family of the deceased.

The UN peacekeeping mission, MINUSCA started in the Central African Republic since April 2014. But the pressure has mounted on the soldiers in recent weeks because of the last month presidential election.

The rebels fiercely oppose President Faustin-Archange Touadéra. They demand his resignation instead of elections.
