Togo-Judges uphold the indictment of journalist Isidore Kouwonou

Isidore Kouwonou, the Togolese journalist who is under judicial supervision in the case of his detained colleagues, Ferdinand Ayité and Joël Egah, was heard yesterday by the senior investigating magistrate of the Lomé Court.

Wednesday morning, the journalist responded to the appointment. He was in the office of the dean of the examining magistrates where he was interviewed for nearly 2 hours in the presence of his lawyer, Me Elom Kpadé.

In the end, the senior investigating judge of the Lomé court decided to uphold his indictment. Mr Isidore Kouwonou therefore remains under judicial control.

The lawyer for these three journalists indicted in the performance of their duties is not giving up. He intends to continue the proceedings.

The detention of these journalists is not only criticized by Togolese politicians, but also by international press freedom organizations as well as human rights organisations including Amnesty International, CPJ, RSF and many others.
