Ethiopian Airlines officially launched on Wednesday, June 1, a new connection to Washington DC from Lomé. An inaugural flight took place in this direction, following a ceremony organized at Gnassingbé Eyadema International Airport (AIGE).
The new connection, announced a few weeks ago, will be made three times a week, and thus brings the number of weekly flights to the American capital to 10, with stopovers in Dublin (Ireland) in particular.
Not only does this new link “strengthen air connectivity between Africa and the United States and contributes to strengthening economic, commercial, tourist and diplomatic ties between the two regions”, but it is also a a new decisive step in Togo’s ambition to become an important regional hub.
In mid-April, the pan-African carrier Asky announced a reduced rate on its flights for the Togolese diaspora, as part of a cooperation agreement with the government.
