Togo hosts a session of WHO Regional Committee for Africa

Togo hosts from this Monday, until August 26, the 72nd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa. The event, which will bring together the luminaries of the health sector, will take place at the International Conference Center of Lomé.

For five days, ministers and representatives of 47 African countries, international experts and various stakeholders will define the continent’s health policy and take stock of the specific needs of the region.

The summit, which will be officially launched by the head of State Faure Gnassingbé , will make it possible to address several sensitive issues, including universal health insurance, vaccination, the fight against epidemics, medical equipment, the quality of care, the management of emergencies, or financing the sector.

A total of 700 participants are expected in a hybrid format (400 face-to-face and 300 virtual) for this meeting, the first of this scale since the advent of the covid-19 pandemic.

On Sunday, on the eve of the opening of the summit, a large “Sports March for Health” was initiated in the Togolese capital. The activity mobilized several hundred people, including members of the government.

Les nombreuses tentatives depuis le début des années ´90 pour humaniser le pouvoir d´état et le rendre aux Togolais, n´ont pas pu résister à la terreur militaire, seule légitimité de la dictature du père en fils.
