The Togolese government on Monday confirmed the presence in Togo of the deposed leader of Burkina Faso, Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba.
“Togo, in accordance with its tradition, remains committed to peace in the sub-region and its actions are in line with this. The reception of Colonel Damiba responds to this logic”, indicated Akodah Ayéwouadan, the Minister of Communication.
Author of a coup in January, Lieutenant-Colonel Damiba was pushed out by Captain Traoré. His fall was marked by violence against the French presence in the country.
Following demonstrations started since Friday, September 30, 2022, the officer finally laid down his arms and returned the keys to the presidency which he himself had taken over by force.
For the moment no details have been given on the continuation of the stay of Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba in Togo.
