In a few days, it will be a year that Ukraine is attacked by its neighbor Russia. The date of the end of this conflict, first triggered in February 2014, is unpredictable. Like several other Nations in the world, Togo maintains its position of dialogue.
“ It’s clear for us. Our vision is a vision of dialogue and peace. After the war, we need to have a seat and test the peace way.”, said Prof. Robert Dussey Foreign Minister of Togo during an interview granted to DW on the sidelines of the 2023 Munich Security Conference underway in Germany.
The head of Togolese diplomacy, expected in Russia on February 26 according to Jeune Afrique, therefore reiterated Lomé’s position on the peaceful settlement of this war between the countries of Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.
Asked about the security and political situation in Mali, the Togolese minister once again chose the path of diplomacy.
“Togo is one of the West African countries. We are very close with Sahel Region. And I think, we need to continue to help the people of Sahel and the people of Mali. So the rest in the diplomacy.”, he said.
Robert Dussey is taking part the Munich Security Conference kicked off since February 17. The meeting gathered high-level decision-makers from around the world, including heads of state, ministers, figures from international and non-governmental organizations, as well as senior representatives from industry, media, academia and civil society.
At the heart of this meeting, which ends this Sunday, February 19, 2023, is an intensive debate on current and future security challenges in all corners of the world.
