Since Monday, March 20, 2023, the Togolese capital, Lomé, has hosted the congress of the West African College of Surgeons (WACS). This meeting comes a few days after the International Congress of Epidemiology and Public Health.
This 63rd edition was opened on Monday by Togo’s Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Access to Care, Moustafa Mijiyawa.
For three days, experts from different countries focus on education and surgical training in West Africa. Specifically, participants reflect on barriers to surgical education, including the impacts caused by Covid-19.
Established since 1960, the West African College of Surgeons is a peer organization that promotes postgraduate education and training in surgery.
