The Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority in Togo also called ARCEP, has recently launched the ‘My Perf’ application, which allows users to assess the quality of their internet connection in the country.
Available in both English and French, and downloadable for free on Google Play Store, this app aims to address consumer concerns about their connection speed and provide more accurate data on network performance in different parts of the country.
With information such as download throughput, transfer speed, and latency, users can now better understand the quality of their connection.
Additionally, the app features an interactive map that helps visualize internet performance in a specific city or region.
This new initiative is part of ARCEP’s desire to promote transparency and improve the quality of telecommunications services in Togo.
It follows a comparative analysis of plans published at the end of April, which showed a significant drop in mobile connectivity prices in the country.
Prices have decreased overall, with a drop of 71% for the main operator and 63% for Togocom, between the first quarter of 2021 and April 2023.
However, although entry-level tariffs in Togo have converged towards the regional average, they are still more than six times higher than those at the high-end, which is the largest gap among countries in West Africa.
