Togo takes the helm of International Coffee Organization

Togo has assumed the presidency of the International Coffee Organization (ICO). Enselme Gouthon, Togo’s Secretary-General of the Coffee and Cocoa Sector Coordination Committee (CCFCC), was officially appointed during the 5th World Coffee Conference held in India last week.

The event, co-hosted by the ICO and the Indian Ministry of Commerce, brought together over 2,000 delegates from 80 different countries in Bangalore. Togo, having held the vice-presidency of the organization the previous year, now sees its representative taking the highest position within the ICO.

For Enselme Gouthon, this appointment represents a global recognition and an acknowledgment of his more than four decades of dedicated work in the coffee industry.

As a reminder, Sunday, October 1, 2023, marked International Coffee Day. On this occasion, the International Labour Organization (ILO) launched a social media challenge for coffee workers. In a statement, the organization expressed its intent through this initiative, saying, “Through this campaign, the ILO’s Vision Zero Fund aims to raise awareness and promote better working conditions across the coffee supply chain.”

Les nombreuses tentatives depuis le début des années ´90 pour humaniser le pouvoir d´état et le rendre aux Togolais, n´ont pas pu résister à la terreur militaire, seule légitimité de la dictature du père en fils.
