Nigeria opens new Embassy in Togo

A new Nigerian Embassy was inaugurated earlier this week in Lomé, Togo. The Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasized the significance of strengthening cooperation between the two West African nations.

The new diplomatic facility, located at Place de la Réconciliation, spans 4,000 square meters. The first phase includes a residential building with three apartments, while the second phase will feature the construction of the chancellery.

This initiative aims to enhance bilateral relations between Nigeria and Togo, extending beyond mere infrastructure. “Nigeria intends to strengthen its diplomatic presence in Togo through the promotion of an inclusive and proactive foreign policy,” said Nigerian Minister Tuggar.

The relationship between Nigeria and Togo is supported by various treaties of friendship and memoranda of understanding, addressing key areas such as economy, security, transport, mutual assistance, and energy.
