A new border control post has been officially inaugurated at Tamong, located in the Savanes region of Togo, marking a step in enhancing regional security. The inauguration took place on Thursday, December 12, and was attended by Calixte Batossie Madjoulba, the Minister of Security and Civil Protection.
This new infrastructure is the result of a partnership between the Togolese government, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and Germany. The facility is equipped with advanced technologies, including the MIDAS (Migration Information and Data Analysis System), which will enable more effective border surveillance.
The establishment of the border post is part of the broader “Strengthening Border Security and Resilience of Border Communities in the Gulf of Guinea” project. The initiative aims to bolster security along land borders, especially in the context of combating terrorism, violent extremism, and transnational crime.
The new border post is expected to improve the management of migration flows in the region, while also facilitating better coordination between Togolese and Ghanaian authorities.
