Earthquakes : Togo supports Türkiye with $1.5M

The Republic of Togo joins other countries around the world that have provided support to Turkey following the devastating earthquakes that hit the country on February 06, 2023. The West African country offered $1.5 million to Türkye.


The information was confirmed on Thursday March 30 by the Turkish Embassy in Lomé.

According to a short press release, this donation from the Togolese State aims to “show its support and solidarity”, following the earthquake that struck Turkey last month.

Most African states have expressed their compassion and provided material assistance to Ankara. A surge of solidarity which reflects the success of a very active Turkish diplomacy on the continent.

As a reminder, a strong earthquake hit several Turkish cities in Syria on February 6th. The damage claimed the lives of around 48,000 people with several injuries.
