The World Bank (WB) has a new Director of Operations for Togo. Rwandan Marie-Chantal Uwanyiligira officially took office on July 1, replacing Coralie Gevers, in office since 2019.
The new official, who will also be responsible for three other countries in the sub-region (Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea), begins a three-day visit to the country this Wednesday, July 19. During her stay, she will hold meetings with the main authorities, and discuss the partnership with the Bretton Woods institution.
The visit will also be an opportunity to seal the funding agreement for the Transformative Social Assistance for Resilience program announced a few weeks ago, and to see the achievements of some projects in Togo.
As a reminder, before her appointment in Togo, Marie-Chantal Uwanyiligira served in several countries on the continent: Rwanda, Senegal, Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, and more recently, Madagascar.
