In Togo, the dissemination of advertising spots and posters is now subject to prior approval from the High Authority for Audiovisual and Communication (HAAC).
This exit from the institution guaranteeing the freedom and protection of the press and other means of mass communication, in a press release on Monday, extends in particular to advertisements by traditional therapists, products of traditional medicine which, for their part, are now banned on televisions and radios.
The HAAC thus specifies to communication and advertising agencies, audiovisual press companies, written press and online to have their advertising viewed and validated by its services before any broadcast on their various platforms.
The public institution further emphasizes that the items to be viewed must be left at the Haac secretariat, every working day between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., for viewing and validation and are only withdrawn in the afternoon from 2:30 p.m.
This injunction from the media control service comes in a context where the executive aims to expand its prerogatives, in particular to clean up the framework for the exercise of the various audiovisual and communication actors.
