Hundreds of Togolese peacekeepers deployed as part of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (Minusma) have returned home.
A total of 800 Togolese soldiers and police, part of the 8th battalion returned to Togo in early January 2022.
According to information reported Monday by some of our Togolese colleagues, who quote official sources, these Togolese peacekeepers have reached the end of their mission.
The soldiers have been deployed for more than a year in the country of Assimi Goïta, Mali, as part of a special UN mission.
According to the same sources, another strong contingent of 650 other Togolese soldiers have been deployed in Mali to replace their comrades who have returned.
