ILO keys handed over to the Togolese Houngbo

The former Prime minister of Togo Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo has received the keys of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) from his predecessor this Friday September 30, 2022.

The Togolese became the 11th Director-General, succeeding the British
Guy Ryder who has concluded today his 10-year term in office.

“It is with a genuine sentiment of pride, of friendship, and of confidence in the future of the ILO under the leadership of Gilbert F. Houngbo that I end my mandate and pass on the baton – or the three keys – to Gilbert Houngbo as ILO Director-General.” , his predecessor twitted.

Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo, 61, served as Prime Minister of Togo from September 2008 to July 2012. He has also held various positions within the United Nations System, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the International Labour Office and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), before his election this year at the head of ILO.
