Togo-Ghana maritime delimitation: An 11th meeting scheduled for October

Togo and Ghana ended Friday in the Capital Lomé, the tenth consultation on the border dispute between them. The meeting resulted in further progress on the issue.

A new border line has been proposed by the Ghanaian side to allow Togo to have access to the high seas.

Additional time was therefore granted to the Togolese to examine the implications of this line.

There has been another point of agreement between the two Nations: The maintenance of the joint technical sub-committee to monitor the implementation of the decisions of the maritime delimitation agreement after its signature.

While the signing of the maritime border agreement is scheduled for next month, the two parties have agreed to institutionalize a joint patrol between their national navies.

An eleventh bilateral plenary meeting is then scheduled for a later date in Accra.

Les nombreuses tentatives depuis le début des années ´90 pour humaniser le pouvoir d´état et le rendre aux Togolais, n´ont pas pu résister à la terreur militaire, seule légitimité de la dictature du père en fils.
