Le match amical opposant la Côte d’Ivoire au Mali dans le nouveau stade d’Ebimpé à Abidjan a été interrompu mardi soir par un orage, rendant la pelouse totalement impraticable, à quatre mois du coup d’envoi de la Coupe d’Afrique des Nations qui se tiendra en Côte d’Ivoire.
Des pluies torrentielles se sont abattues sur la pelouse en fin de première période et pendant la mi-temps, empêchant la reprise de la rencontre dont le score était de 0 à 0.
Selon les images de la télévision nationale, la pelouse était gorgée d’eau, rendant impossible tout rebond du ballon.
Le match se déroulait au stade Alassane Ouattara d’Ebimpe, en banlieue d’Abidjan, une enceinte de 60 000 places construite pour la CAN 2023 et qui doit notamment accueillir la finale.
La compétition qui doit se tenir du 13 janvier au 11 février 2024 se déroulera dans cinq autres stades : à Bouaké (centre, 40 000 places) dans la capitale Yamoussoukro (centre, 20 000 places), à Korhogo (nord, 20 000 places), à San Pedro (sud-ouest, 20 000 places) et au cœur d’Abidjan (40 000 places).
Initialement programmée en juin et juillet 2023, la CAN a été reportée pour se tenir début 2024, afin d’éviter que les matches aient lieu en pleine saison des pluies.
Si le mois de janvier fait partie des moins pluvieux de l’année, des orages en fin de journée ne sont pas à exclure, notamment à Abidjan.
