In Togo now, from Friday, January 14, vaccination concerns pupils and learners from the secondary school and “persons aged 12 and over throughout the national territory”.
The government, after consulting the Scientific Council and taking into account the evolution of the pandemic, has indeed decided to widen the vaccine target, hitherto intended for 18 years and over.
The ambition is to continue efforts to achieve collective immunity, and to enable populations to avoid serious forms of the disease.
In addition, apart from the main barrier gestures enacted since the start of the pandemic (systematic hand washing or disinfection, wearing a mask, social distancing), populations are urged to “avoid all close contact with people showing suspicious signs of flu or breathing difficulties”.
To date, more than two million doses of vaccine have already been administered in the country of Faure Gnassingbé.
