Togo launches the MRV for climate action program

The Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) bilateral support program Monitoring Reporting and Verification (MRV), was officially launched in Togo on February 28 during a three-day workshop.

The initiative, supported by Canada, aims to support recipient countries in achieving their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

The meeting, which brought together several actors, made it possible to set up Togo’s “Evergreen” roadmap. The document defines the various actions that can contribute to strengthening multi-level climate governance and achieving the NDCs. The plan establishes the MRV of climate finance.

Based on this system, Togo should be able to define the progress made and the actions taken to contribute to the overall limitation of global warming below 2°C.

Togo has therefore become the fourth West African country to carry out the ECCC program after Gambia, Ghana and Liberia.
