A Togolese sends open letter to UN boss António Guterres

In this period of preparation for parliamentary elections in Togo, the Togolese politician Francis Pédro Amuzun, a municipal councilor, and presenting himself as “citizen of the world” again addresses António Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN).

In a letter dated April 17, 2023, Mr. Amuzun is outraged that he has seen no improvement after his first letter to the UN boss.

“Mr General Secretary,
On May 2, 2022, I respectfully sent you an open letter in which I was surprised, perhaps wrongly, at the sepulchral silence of the United Nations on the tragedies that are taking place in my country Togo, “he began. .

“I also had to let you know that I had the clear impression that the United Nations abandoned the Togolese people to their sad fate by giving you many examples of the suffering that the Gnassingbé regime is inflicting on this people who seek only to live in peace in their country.” he added.

The former vice president of Togo’s electoral commission says that 11 months have passed and it is with sadness he notes that the UN has not taken the slightest trouble, if only to pretend to look a little towards his country.

“Really, a sad observation that also leads me to draw the sad conclusion that in chicken court, the grain of corn has no chance of being right. Besides, what does Togo weigh to deserve the attention of the United Nations where so-called great nations such as France, China, the United Kingdom, Russia and the United States sit?”, he continues.
