Togo-Focus on the visit of World Bank president David Malpass

David Malpass began his stay in Lomé on Friday March 31, 2023 with a meeting with the Prime Minister of Togo, Victoire Dogbé. A meeting, extended to members of the government, was organized on this occasion.

The two parties discussed several points: the bilateral partnership, the country’s medium-term development strategy, budgetary and tax policy, the private sector and job creation.

“President Malpass and Prime Minister Tomegah-Dogbé discussed areas for World Bank Group support under the 2024-2028 Country Partnership Framework, including improving agriculture productivity and agribusiness value chains, private sector development and digital transformation, and resilience and prevention of violence in the northern regions of Togo.”, read a statement from the World Bank Group.


The Prime Minister presented the progress made on the various indicators, before listing the opportunities and assets available to the country (regional trade, logistics hub, digitalization, among others).

Finally, an update was made on the security situation in the Sahel region and the need to limit contagion was reiterated.
