Togo-Covid-19: $ 29.5 million from the World Bank to strengthen vaccination

The World Bank approved a few days ago, funding of $ 29.5 million intended to help Togo “to ensure the vaccination of its population against the coronavirus and better respond to health emergencies. public ”.

The envelope allocated by IDA and the Trust Fund for Preparedness and Response to Health Emergencies should enable the country to strengthen the deployment of vaccines, and to provide an adequate health system for the success of the vaccination campaign currently in progress.


These are “additional resources for Togo to reach the goal of vaccinating at least 60% of its population,” said the Bank’s representative in Togo, Hawa Wague, who observed that the country “has recorded many successes in management of the Covid-19 thanks to the measures taken by the authorities and an adequate screening and treatment system ”.

Togo began its vaccination campaign in March. The country will also benefit in the coming months from the vaccines promised by the USA for a hundred countries around the world.

So far, the west African country has recorded in total 13631 cases of Coronavirus with 126 deaths linked to the disease and 197 active cases.
