Togo imposes a mandatory quarantine on travelers from Brazil, South Africa, India, the United Kingdom, Russia and Portugal.
Any traveler to Lomé from the 6 aforementioned countries must now go through the 10-day quarantine box, once they land at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport in Lomé.
This decision of the Minister in charge of Health, Moustafa Mijiyawa, aims to protect the country against variants of the new coronavirus, which are more virulent and which spreads very quickly.
In recent weeks, in fact, many mutants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, called Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta variants, have emerged in the countries affected by the government measure.
The latter are considered much more dangerous and transmissible by experts, who recommend absolute vigilance.
