A new Turkish Studies and Research Center has been inaugurated at Togo’s University of Lomé. The official opening took place on Wednesday, November 13, with the participation of Komlan Batawila, the university’s First Vice President, and Turkish Ambassador Muteber Kılıç.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Maarif Foundation of Türkiye, aims to provide students with a comprehensive platform to learn the Turkish language and explore Turkish civilization. The center is designed to deepen the knowledge of Togolese students while creating pathways for study opportunities in Turkey.
“This new center is a unique gateway to Turkish history, culture, and society, establishing a bridge between our two nations,” stated Vice President Batawila. He emphasized that the center would play a strategic role in diversifying knowledge and strengthening international cooperation.
Hüseyin Sami Gök, a representative of the Maarif Foundation, expressed his satisfaction with the project’s success. He highlighted that the center’s opening marks a new chapter in educational collaboration between the two countries.
Recent years have seen this relationship between Lomé and Ankara flourish, with a notable increase in trade exchanges in 2023 further cementing ties between the two nations.
